‘Arrow’ season 5, episode 10 promo (seemingly) answers Katie Cassidy mystery

Over the past few weeks, the fine folks over at The CW have been kind enough to release some first-look promos for some of their upcoming series, whether it be “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” or “Supergirl.” Now, they’ve finally done the same thing with “Arrow” season 5.

Now that we’ve watched this promo below, we are certainly excited; however, at the same exact time, there’s also a certain part of us that is a little bit bummed that The CW would choose to give away as much as they are in it. We’ve got an obligation to share it as we cover this show, but we are attaching a WARNING here that it potentially gives away the big twist at the end of the winter finale.

As it turns out, the answer to all of the questions surrounding Laurel Lance’s return may have been the easiest one: This is actually Black Siren, who must have escaped Central City somehow after being a part of “The Flash” last season. After one particularly terrifying sonic screech, Oliver proclaims that this is “not our Laurel,” and she comments back with the equivalent of a “took you long enough.”

Now that this information is particularly out there, we do still like the idea of getting Black Siren on the show, and also Katie Cassidy back in the universe somehow. With that said, it’s going to be somewhat of a bummer if she turns up in one episode and then disappears once more after such a big cliffhanger. If she doesn’t stick around here, maybe you return her to “The Flash” universe; or, maybe the Legion of Doom needs a female member. There could be something fun about Sara Lance having to fight the Earth-2 version of her sister.

“Arrow” returns with new episodes on Wednesday, January 25.
