‘The Voice UK’ video: See first promo featuring will.i.am
It seems in many ways like we just finished covering the latest season of “The X Factor” over in the UK, but at the same time, we’re here starting to promote their version of “The Voice.” Time really does fly when it comes to this show!
With that said, there is a certain degree of irony about the fact that the new promo below for the newly-minted ITV series features judge will.i.am seemingly flying into the air for whatever reason. While we don’t quite understand the purpose of the promotional campaign, there is no denying that there is a lot of buzz out there for the new season, and excitement to see in the end what some of the people associated with the show come up with.
While the show this coming season is going to be roughly the same as it’s been over the past few years in the UK, there is one particular change that you’re going to end up seeing: For the first time, the judges are not going to turn around and offer advice to contestants who make it onto the show to perform, but don’t get anyone to turn around. This is something we’re of two minds of, given that in theory, it’s terrible since you want the choice to actually improve. Not getting any of that feedback really doesn’t do you a lot of good as an artist.
Yet, at the same time we feel like there’s always a lot of pandering during these critiques on these shows, and there may not have been that much constructive that the contestants learned anyway. Not only that, but this saves us some time potentially on the show. While we understand the Blind Auditions are the main focus of this show, the UK version spends too much time on these and not enough on the live rounds.
The new season will begin in January. Stay tuned for more news over the coming days! (Photo: ITV.)
