‘Criminal Minds’ season 12 spoilers: Something surprising this way comes
If you were to look back at 2016 for “Criminal Minds,” it feels fairly easy to say that this is a season of change. We’ve lost Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson, and at the same time we’ve got back Paget Brewster and got for the first time new cast members Adam Rodriguez and Damon Gupton.
While many of the faces on the show are now different, we’d argue that many of the familiar themes still remain; specifically, we’re talking here about how you’re going to have a chance to see heroes being heroic, and doing everything that they can in order to stop UnSubs and crimes. Yet, at the same time we could see something coming up that is out of left field for one of the characters — and potentially anyone who works at the BAU in general. For another brief tease on the subject, you don’t have to look any further than to what Gupton had to say to TV Guide:
“There are some twists and turns. There are some things you wouldn’t expect from a particular team member … Not me. Possibly somebody else.”
Obviously, there are several reasons why you could seemingly see someone act outside of their normal bounds, with one of the biggest ones being just that they may be reaching some sort of personal crossorads between their duties to the team or their duties to themselves. We certainly don’t think anyone would do something unexpected unless there was a very specific motive behind it, so that is something to keep in mind a little bit further as we get closer to the next all-new episode airing. The show’s off next week, but it will return on January 4 with one entitled “Profiling 202” that is going to be both a sequel and a big episode for Joe Mantegna and his character of Rossi.
