‘This Is Us’ midseason poster has one key omission

After wrapping up its story for the time being earlier this month, NBC’s “This Is Us” is now in the midst of a hiatus until the new year — but clearly, the network doesn’t want you to forget about the show or what could be coming up with it.

As a result of that, we do have something new worth checking out now in the poster below (via People Magazine), which is a nice little reminder of some of the various wonderful moments that we saw over the course of the first season. There are many that signal great love, some that signal wonderful family gathers, and above all plenty of warm fuzzies. Even though this is a dramatic show at times, it does still do a good job of generating many of these through and through.

Now that we’ve said all of that, there is one person missing from this poster that does cause a chill to go down our spine in Toby. If you think back to the winter finale, the character had a heart attack that throws his entire future into jeopardy. There are two different ways to look at this; maybe it is some sort of horrible karmic payback for him not taking care of himself (even though he knew that he should), or maybe this is more of him getting the shot in the arm to realize that if he continues down this road, he will die.

Given the way in which this show tends to operate, we cannot imagine too much time going by following its January 10 return before some answers start to become a little bit clearer.
