Ratings: ‘Madam Secretary’ falls hard while ‘Elementary’ stays low; ‘The Simpsons’ steady
In looking at some of the ratings that are out there for Sunday night’s primetime lineup, there is one clear reaction that we have: What in the world happened to all of the shows on CBS? It’s a good question, but one we unfortunately don’t have an easy answer to.
Let’s start with “Madam Secretary,” which seems fitting given that we’re talking about a show that drew one of its lowest ratings ever in a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. What in the world happened here? You can put some of the blame for a number of East Coast outlets airing the show late due to NFL football; meanwhile, you can also label a special airing of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” beforehand as a contributor. That show drew just a 0.7 rating, as well, so it didn’t give the show a whole lot to build off of.
Meanwhile, the latest episode of “Elementary” that followed the Tea Leoni show up didn’t do a whole lot to turn things around, drawing a 0.6 rating in the demo. Ultimately, these are the sort of ratings we are far more used to seeing from this show.
Fox – This is the only other network to be airing new programming on the night beyond NBC with NFL football, and for the most part, there weren’t too many disasters in here (luckily). We had a chance to see “The Simpsons” hold on to much of its 2.4 rating in the demo, while “Son of Zorn” stayed around the 1.3 rating that it’s held recently — that’s not great viewer retention, but we suppose that you take whatever you can get.
Elsewhere on the network, “Family Guy” put up a 1.4, while “The Last Man on Earth” managed a 1.0.
