Golden Globes 2017: ‘This Is Us’ creator, Riz Ahmed, Chrissy Metz, and more react to nominations
The official nominations were announced this morning for the Golden Globes, and it’s certainly fair to say that there was some excitement in the air over the nominees! While there were some snubs, there were also a few others that made us tremendously happy — take, for example, getting to see people like Riz Ahmed and Chrissy Metz on the list for some really great work. We’re getting a chance to see a wide array of different nominees this time around, and that further reflects the Globes’ own desire to celebrate diversity and show you talent on a global scale. It’s always been one of their calling cards, and something that they do better than almost anyone else out there.
Below, you can see some of the first reactions that are coming in from the nominees; we assume that there are many more that are coming in over the course of the next few hours, given that this is still before 7:00 a.m. Pacific time and there are a good many people who are still asleep.
Riz Ahmed, “The Night Of” (via Entertainment Weekly) – “Thank you HFPA! I’m absolutely thrilled to be counted amongst this year’s nominees. I’m deeply indebted to Steve Zaillian, Richard Price, HBO, to all the cast and crew of The Night Of for their dedication in bringing this timely story to life, and all those who shared their stories of prison and prejudice with me in researching this role. It was an honour to portray Nas, and through him the untold stories of so many.”
For more from Rachel Bloom, “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman, and more, just take a look below. The show itself is going to air on NBC come Sunday, January 8, with Jimmy Fallon serving as the host for the first time.

In my experience, when my phone starts buzzing at 5:30 AM it means someone's dead or in jail. This was much better. #ThisIsUs #GoldenGlobes
