‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 9 (winter finale) video: What Julian Albert knows about Savitar
Tuesday night’s winter finale for “The Flash” is just about here, and we feel like we can certainly say with some confidence that this is a big one. Following the events of the crossover on the show last week, we’re going to have a chance to dive back into this season’s central mythology: Savitar, his origins, and what exactly it is that the character wants with one Barry Allen. We’re not sure that this is something that the show has made altogether clear as of just yet.
For the time being, mostly what we can present to you are a pair of sneak peeks below that are very much interesting in furthering this along. One of the features executive producer Todd Helbing explaining Savitar’s return to the show, and diving back into this so soon following the insanity of the crossover.
As for the second, this one is perhaps all the more eventful given that it focuses for the most part on getting to Julian Albert admit to Barry that he has more of a connection to Savitar than he’s elt on; specifically, he spent a percentage of his life trying to track down the Philosopher’s Stone, something that is responsible for the creation of meta-humans. (It’s a rather-obvious “Harry Potter” reference to have Tom Felton say these words, given that the Philosopher’s Stone was the original name for the Sorcerer’s Stone.)
The more we learn regarding what’s been going on with Albert, the more much of his character makes sense when you thinks about. Much of his hatred for meta-humans can easily be attributed to the fact that he is responsible as Alchemy for creating so many of them, even if it is not something that he particularly wants to do. He may not have a choice. He also does tell Barry, who has clearly done some research, that all he knows about Savitar through his experience is that the man was the original person with speed powers. Of course he knows more than that, but why would he let on to a guy who, by his own estimation, is just some annoying lab tech that he made sure quit his job in return for keeping Caitlin Snow’s attack a secret?
