NBC’s ‘The Voice’ iTunes results: Billy Gilman, Sundance Head, Josh Gallagher win big
Is it possible that we could have two country singers and a former country singer in the finale for “The Voice” next week? If we are to look at things based solely on iTunes sales, that is looking like a little bit more of a possibility than we would have predicted otherwise going into the show.
As of this writing (which is at around 12:30 p.m. Pacific time), Billy Gilman is currently sitting at #1 with his rendition of “I Surrender,” and is followed up immediately with Sundance Head’s “Love Can Build a Bridge” at #2 and Josh Gallagher’s “Danny’s Song” at #3. For Gallagher in particular, this is a huge surge forward following some of his previous performances.
If you’re going by sales on iTunes alone, you would probably assume that these rankings make the three a lock; we’re not so willing to say that this season, given that we’ve seen iTunes results prove to be a little bit misleading in the past. Also, many of the other contestants are hot on their heels. Christian Cuevas is currently sitting at #5 with “To Worship You I Live (Away),” while Brendan Fletcher and We McDonald are right out of the top ten with “Angel” and “Scars To Your Beautiful” at #11 and #12. Ali Caldwell isn’t even that are off of that with “I Will Always Love You” currently sitting at #15.
We thought coming out of last night’s show that perhaps there were too many ballads being done and that would impact iTunes sales to some degree, but clearly, we were wrong about that. Everything that these artists did clearly worked wonders. Aaron Gibson is currently right outside of the top 40 with “Everything I Do (I Do It For You),” but given how he’s been saved by America for three straight weeks, we have a really tough time declaring him out of the running.
