‘Scandal’ season 6 spoilers: Jeff Perry’s daughter Zoe Perry joins in super-mysterious role
For the upcoming sixth season of “Scandal,” clearly the folks over at ABC are interested in very much keeping it within the family.
Sources confirm that Zoe Perry, the daughter of series regular Jeff Perry (Cyrus), is joining the series for an important role. However, this is the only thing that is being said about this at present, as there is no further news surrounding who this person is, when they will first appaer, or even what their name is.
While this may sound a little bit strange at first, this is precisely how Shonda Rimes series tend to work as an executive producer. Even more so than other huge dramas like “Game of Thrones,” Rhimes really likes to operate within a veil of secrecy in keeping things a mystery for as long as she possibly can. This is at times certainly frustrating, but simultaneously, it adds to the enjoyment factor of some of her shows in the moment since you don’t necessarily know how a given actor is going to impact one of her shows. There are times when she and the other producers are able to keep guest castings a secret up until mere days before the episode featuring the new character airs.
Interestingly, Zoe Perry does have a connection to Shondaland already beyond her father, having appeared previously in an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” She also appeared throughout the short-lived ABC drama “The Family” earlier this year, giving her some further connections to the network.
The sixth season of “Scandal” was delayed to accommodate the pregnancy of Kerry Washington, but we are now starting to get close to the premiere date next month. If you missed it, there is a first-look promo for the new season that you can check out over at the link here. (Photo: ABC.)
