Ratings: ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ soars, ‘Big Bang Theory’ steady on quiet Thursday
Let’s start off this article with a generous dose of honesty: Friday was a quiet night when it comes to primetime. There weren’t all that many shows on the air, and for the ones that were, they didn’t necessarily make too big of an impact. There was one key exception, but even with that it still drew slightly smaller numbers than the other recent parts of the crossover.
CBS – Let’s begin over with the network that actually had the most going on over the course of the night, as “The Big Bang Theory” stayed steady with a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. After that, it all goes downhill. While “The Great Indoors” (1.4) improved over last week, last week it didn’t have the sitcom as a lead-in. Both “Mom” (1.3) and “Life in Pieces” (1.2) can also say the same thing. “Mom” in particular is a very good show, but at the same time we do think that CBS is in need of finding some other hit over the course of the night that can draw something resembling a consistent audience.
NBC – It’s the NFL. How much do you care? For those who do, the Minnesota Vikings game against the Dallas Cowboys generated a 4.7 rating.
ABC – After “A Charlie Brown Christmas” generated a 1.5, “Great American Baking Show” brought in a 1.1 and a 1.0 rating. We’re not going to say that it was a tremendous performance akin to “The Great British Bake Off,” but it also wasn’t expecting to be. It’s good for December as filler content.
Fox – There’s not a whole lot to write home about here, given that both “Rosewood” and “Pitch” held firm at around the 0.7 rating that we saw for some other recent episodes of the show.
The CW – “Legends of Tomorrow” scored one of its best ratings ever in a 1.1 for the conclusion of the Heroes v. Aliens crossover. It’d be amazing for the show if it manages to keep these numbers in the long-term, but we’re not incredibly optimistic as to that.
