TV Quick Hits: ‘Nashville’ season 5 trailer; ‘Watch What Happens Live!’ makeover; Regina King’s new Netflix series
We’re going to kick off this particular edition of TV Quick Hits by discussing one show that’s instituting some big changes moving into the new year: “Watch What Happens Live!” featuring Andy Cohen. This is a show that’s amassed a certain level of popularity since its inception, but at the same time, hasn’t really instituted any big changes.
Well, what’s changing now is that we’ve got an updated logo (see above), and based on what Cohen told Variety, an updated set (it will be in the same location) featuring more audience space plus room for musical performances:
“Our new clubhouse is the perfect upgrade for us because it won’t lose any of the intimacy or lunacy provided by our current home. We’re going from an audience of 22 to about 50, plus we have roof access and a whole lot of new surprises.”
Basically, this is going to feel a little more like a proper late-night show. We’ll see how much of that ends up looking come early next year.
As for some other news of the day…
Regina King heads to Netflix – The “American Crime” / “The Leftovers” star is going to be starring in the upcoming series “Seven Seconds” on Netflix, which is coming from Veena Sud of “The Killing” fame. Per The Hollywood Reporter, she will be playing the part of Latrice Butler, a wife and mother who undergoes a significant life change following an incident involving her son, one that happens following another big change from an impoverished area to becoming a homeowner for the first time. The emotions surrounding what happens to her son will lead to sweeping changes.
“Nashville” season 5 trailer – The time for waiting (and for smaller teases) is over! This is one of those times where we really feel like the less we say about it, the better since there’s a whole lot in here to dive into and enjoy.
