The epic ‘Arrow’ crossover trailer is here with Deathstroke, Dominators, and other awesomeness
Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen a wide array of different teasers, promos, photos, and whatnot for the upcoming crossover event on The CW subtitled “Heroes v. Aliens.” Personally, we’ve always felt that name to be a little bit weird given that Supergirl is technically an alien, and by that virtue, we do think that it sounds a little like she’s battling her own friends.
Anyhow, earlier today the network revealed what is their first proper trailer, and we do have to say with the utmost of confidence that this one is glorious. It’s fast-paced, fun, and it really shows off most of what these shows do best: Create really fun, exciting storylines while sprinkling in the right amount of drama here and there.
With that, let’s bring you what are to us the three best moments that we’ve seen so far.
1. Kara, while trying to meet the entire roster of heroes for the first time, learning why Heat Wave got his name. It’s a little like learning why the Joker in “The Dark Knight” got all of those scars, except in this case he’s being serious.
2. Getting the chance to see the return of iconic “Arrow” villain Deathstroke. Sure, this is probably going to just going to be half as awesome since we have zero evidence that Manu Bennett is actually going to be in this episode, but Deathstroke is still Deathstroke. Just bring back Manu eventually.
3. Cisco responding to a “Princess Bride” reference. Sure, we know that Cisco makes pop culture references about as much as other people breathe, but “The Princess Bride” is no ordinary reference! (Note: We tried to shoehorn a “it’s someone else … something else” reference at the end of this but couldn’t figure out the right way to do this.)
Are we still concerned about the Dominators as a successful entity of villains? Sure, but we’re glad the trailer spells out precisely what they’re doing and what their goals are: Using the planet in order to save their own.
Trust us when we say that we’re going to have a whole lot more in the way of fun discussion on “Arrow” / “The Flash” / everything else in the coming days, but for now, we’re probably going to watch this trailer a few more times. While there may be flaws in some of these series, they are still the best superhero product going other than what’s in the comic books. (Photo: The CW.)
