‘Code Black’ season 2 casts Marlee Matlin for guest spot

Code Black -

The second season of “Code Black” continues to air on CBS Wednesday night, and we’ve got for you now another slice of the latest casting news all about it.

According to a new report from Variety, Oscar-winner Marlee Matlin is going to be appearing on the December 7 episode of the CBS drama, where she will be playing a deaf patient by the name of Kathy Byrne. She will find her way to Angels Memorial following a car accident that leads to their car rolling over into a river.

Matlin of course is coming onto the show with a wide array of different credits to her name. She won an Academy Award for “Children of a Lesser God,” and she recently appeared on “Switched at Birth.” She’s also fairly familiar to the reality-show circuit, as well, given that she has recently appeared on both “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

As for “Code Black” season 2 as a whole, we do think that the show is really in need of however many high-profile guest stars it can get given some of its own recent struggles in the ratings. The series failed to pick up much in the way of significant ratings to date this season, but we’d still say that it is a fringe contender for a renewal just because on CBS’ overall performance and that it fills a void on the network schedule. While CBS also has “Pure Genius,” we haven’t gotten much in the way of a definite sign just yet as to whether or not the network is planning to keep this show around.
