‘The Good Wife’ spin-off lands new title ‘The Good Fight’
As we move into the new year, apparently Diane Lockhart is going to be fighting “The Good Fight.” After all, we’ve now learned officially that “The Good Wife” spin-off, premiering early next year on CBS before moving over to the CBS All Access streaming platform, will carry with it this title.
As far as names go, we do think that CBS is doing the smart thing here in including the word “good” in the name, and stylizing it in a way that makes it feel similar to the original show. Yet, at the same time it’s not attached to any one individual character, which may be a good thing if there are ever returning cast members — or if the show is not about a particular relationship as the original was Alicia and Peter Florrick.
Joining Christine Baranski in the cast are other returning players Sarah Steele and Cush Jumbo; meanwhile, Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Paul Guilfoyle, and Bernadette Peters are also going to be a part of it. We imagine that there are possibilities in terms of other returning cast members from “The Good Wife” returning to the air, but there is no confirmation at the moment in terms of precisely who they are going to be. We just hope that the series remains as thoughtful and as fascinating as it was when it first aired on the flagship network. Given that original creators Robert and Michelle King are still on board as showrunners, we do very much think the odds are good.
Now, let’s just hope that there are some further previews in the coming weeks as production starts to get more and more underway.
