‘Blue Bloods’ season 7, episode 5 preview: ‘Scrubs,’ ‘Devious Maids’ alum Judy Reyes guest stars
With the rather-sad news that “Devious Maids” was canceled earlier this year by Lifetime, we of course are happy to see an appearance from Judy Reyes on another show — especially when we consider how much we love “Scrubs.”
That other show for Reyes is “Blue Bloods,” which will feature her in a prominent way for next week’s “For the Community.” We’ve got some of the first details on her role below, which is apparently going to continue the immigration / deportation subject matter that we saw touched on in a different way tonight with “Mob Rules.”
Synopsis – “Erin and Anthony try to prevent the deportation of a prominent community activist, Coryna Garza (Judy Reyes), who isn’t a citizen, and Frank must decide if the NYPD will participate in the U.S. Marshals’ high-profile raid of a local gang.”
For Erin and Anthony, we imagine that one of their big challenges moving forward is going to be making sure that they tow the line between the law and doing what they feel is right. Part of the other problem here could be determining what the reasons for Garza’s potential deportation are. There’s a big difference between her being guilty of some sort of actual crime, or her being unfairly targeted or even potentially profiled because of who she is. Hopefully, this is a story where she’s presented ultimately as a hero.
As for the Frank story, it’s hard to say too much right now other than that we hope it’s a little more interesting than it comes across on paper. Determining if officers should be involved in a raid is hardly the flashiest storyline that we’ve seen for Tom Selleck’s character over the course of the run.
