‘The X Factor’ UK: Sharon Osbourne defends Honey G in final 12
Ever since Sharon Osbourne first told Honey G that she would make it into the top 12 on “The X Factor,” there have been complaints on Twitter, protests among many fans, and even a petition that has garnered some digital signatures. Do we think that any of these things matter too much in the end? Not really, if for no other reason that the show is going to do whatever it wants to, and clearly at the moment what it wants to do is give a platform to a woman who has been thought of by some as a novelty act, a rapper who proclaims herself to be the “realest chick in the game,” even though she does at times struggle to stay on the beat.
So what does Sharon have to say about this move now? The judge appeared on “Good Morning Britain” earlier this week, and made it clear that above all else, this was a move made with entertaining people in mind first and foremost:
“Hand on heart it’s about entertaining people and Honey G whether you love her or you don’t love her entertains. She has her own unique way of rapping and people want to see more … Whether they say they don’t … they do.”
The one thing that we will say at present in agreement with Sharon is that Honey G has clearly developed some sort of following, and even though who don’t like her will probably be curious to see how she does in the live shows. She has utterly no shot at winning this season, but for the first few live shows (depending how long she stays) she does have a chance at entertaining.
