‘Elementary’ season 5 spoilers: Fiona will return
Just in case you were wondering when the next chapter was going to arrive in the Sherlock / Fiona relationship on “Elementary,” we have an answer for you: Not too long into the future!
According to Entertainment Weekly, Betty Gilpin is going to be returning for at least one episode on the upcoming fifth season, and that should offer up a good chance to see where these two characters are. This is an appearance that executive producer Rob Doherty teases with the following comment to the website:
“We certainly owe a status report for the Sherlock/Fiona relationship … In the first few episodes there won’t be much mention of her, but we are working on a return for Betty Gilpin. Fiona is a thread that we won’t let dangle too long, especially considering how much we love Betty.”
We certainly imagine that Gilpin will be far from the only familiar face that turns up at some point over the course of the fifth season. One of the great things that the show has executed over time is that they have provided us with a great roster of supporting players who could return again. Take, for example, the likes of Mycroft, Kitty, or even Irene Adler / Moriarty. We do believe that all of these people will be back on the show at some point, and it is largely a matter of timing before it finally happens — and also making sure that the schedules for some of these actors are free for them to stop by. Natalie Dormer’s been a tricky one in that sense.
