‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: More on Mariah Carey appearance!

At this point, we imagine that many fans of “Empire” have heard some of the news regarding Mariah Carey stopping by for a guest appearance. This was first reported a long time ago, and it was early this summer that we learned that she will specifically be playing the part of Kitty, a music superstar who will be working with Jamal.

Want a few more details about why she’s stopping by? Luckily, Fox is coming to the rescue! Per SpoilerTV, you can see the synopsis below for “What Remains is Bestial,” the third episode of this season airing on Wednesday, October 5:

“Cookie calls in a favor with mega-superstar Kitty (guest star Mariah Carey) to record a new song with Jamal, hoping he will overcome his inability to perform. Meanwhile, Andre runs into some trouble and things don’t go as planned. Cookie and Lucious are at odds, Hakeem and Gram (guest star Romeo Miller) fight for Tiana’s attention, and things heat up between Cookie and Angelo Dubois (guest star Taye Diggs).”

It’s nice to see Cookie get a completely different sort of love interest in Angelo, and if he and Lucious end up being at odds, we figure that could be a lot of fun.

Meanwhile, one interesting story on a meta level will be seeing how Miller factors into this story as Gram. This role was originally cast with Kid Cudi, but was later replaced over creative differences. Some of Miller’s scenes were likely shot after the fact, given that Kid Cudi had already filmed some footage as this character at the time of his departure from the series.
