‘Elementary’ season 5 spoilers: Is Watson still happy in her job?
There are a few things that we heard some time ago regarding the upcoming fifth-season premiere of “Elementary,” with one of the most notable ones being that we were going to see “True Blood” actor Nelsan Ellis stop by in the role of Shinwell Johnson, a character well known from the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle source material.
However, what we did not know until now is that we could also be seeing on this upcoming season a situation where Joan Watson is starting to feel a little bit dissatisfied with the current state of things with her career. The upcoming synopsis for the October 2 episode entitled “Folie a Deux” offers up a little bit more information as to what to expect:
“When a serial bomber becomes active again after being dormant for six years, Watson seeks help from Shinwell Johnson (Nelsan Ellis), a former patient whose life she saved when she was a surgeon. Also, Holmes senses Watson is unhappy and questions whether she is still fulfilled by her detective career.”
Personally, we are rather happy to see a little bit more of what could be coming up for Holmes and Watson in a new season, and with a different set of circumstances and characters that they have to deal with. We do imagine that there will be some rather-good mysteries that turn up as time goes by, so hopefully within the early episodes Watson feels a little more like she is getting what she wants out of the job. We cannot imagine the show without at least a hope for the partnership to continue.
