‘Elementary’ season 5: Series boss on Natalie Dormer possibilities
We should start of this particular “Elementary” article by noting once more that we (unfortunately) still know very little regarding whether or not Natalie Dormer is going to be coming on board as Moriarty / Irene Adler on the upcoming fifth season. With that being said, we do of course think that the odds are better that she shows up now than they have been in some time, with there being one major reason for that (and it comes with a SPOILER ALERT): The end of Margaery Tyrell on “Game of Thrones.”
In between playing this part, her work on “The Hunger Games,” and some other feature films, Dormer has hardly had the time necessary to take on this role. Yet, there luckily could be a chance now that there could be time for at least an episode or two. She has expressed an interest in returning before; specifically, she said this in a Reddit AMA a while back:
“I love playing Moriarty! And I love being in New York, I hope very much to return. I’m just lulling Sherlock into a false sense of security.”
Meanwhile, show executive producer Rob Doherty told TVLine recently that he is sad about the end of Margaery, but thrilled at the opportunity that it could present to his own show moving forward:
“I’m of two minds. As a tremendous fan of Game of Thrones, I was really bummed to see her go … As an Elementary writer, it’s hard not to get your gears turning.”
Now, we just have to cross our fingers for a big announcement coming soon.
