‘Rizzoli & Isles’ series finale: Sasha Alexander reflects on playing Maura
The series finale of “Rizzoli & Isles” is coming your way on TNT Tuesday night, but in preparation of that we’re getting a chance to see one of the show’s primary cast members speak out on saying goodbye to a beloved character in Dr. Maura Isles.
In the video below, you can see a recent appearance from Sasha Alexander on local Los Angeles station KTLA, where she opened up about the mixed emotions of saying goodbye to a series that has been her home for so much of her life over the past 7 seasons:
“We’ve had an amazing run for seven years … We’ve had great fans, and we’re really lucky that it went so long and we’re getting a proper send-off. Our showrunner Jan Nash designed our [final season] in a beautiful way … I think you’re going to feel hope, a really good sense of family and friendship, [and everything] that made the show special over the years.”
Judging from everything that we’re seeing and hearing at the moment about the final season, there is one way in which to describe everything that is coming up: Nostalgic. It’s a chance to say goodbye to our favorite people that we have become so heavily invested in over the years, but also to remind fans of the tremendous road that we have all gone down together to get to this final point. There have been emotional and heartfelt moments, but also plenty of fun. Some of the best shows of this genre are the ones that have the ability to blend the two, and we really have to give this show some major credit for pulling that off and staying fairly consistent with it.
