‘Quantico’ season 2 and a change of pace
Don’t get us wrong: We enjoyed many parts of “Quantico” season 1, especially when it comes to the storytelling that came about in the “future” timeline.
Yet, at the same time, there were some flaws in the system that needed to be worked out moving into season 2. For one, we were looking at a story that was far too convoluted for its own good, and also at times became too reliant on the “shocker” to get people excited about what was coming up next. At a certain point if every episode is a jaw-dropper, it feels almost that none of them are. It’s almost akin to the later seasons of “Heroes,” where almost everyone had powers and no one felt particularly special anymore.
As a result of all of this, we are fairly pleased to hear that there are some elements of the story that are being turned around moving into the next batch of episodes. Specifically, executive producer Josh Safran said the following to TV Guide to have us excited about some of the story to come:
“Season 2 is much more contained … It unfolds slowly and it is not somebody on the run. … The CIA is about intelligence. It’s about how are you cultivating and using intelligence, which is a slower boil. It still has all of the great twists. It’s not a bomb going off every week.”
With Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra, pictured) now with the CIA, there will be new faces who turn up. Blair Underwood will have a significant role throughout the season, and Henry Czerny will also return at some point. Ultimately, consider these changes an asset to go along with the new tone.
