‘American Horror Story’ season 6 gets super-campy with new promo
Remember some of those incredibly-cheesy monster movies of the sixties and seventies? Judging from their latest work, it certainly feels clear that the producers of “American Horror Story” do.
In the latest teaser clip below, you can see what seems to be some sort of odd pairing between Hollywood starlet and monster; given that this is entitled “Blind Date,” we figure that someone didn’t see this coming. It’s completely campy and weird, and seems mostly to exist for two separate purposes:
- Keeping you guessing – FX has already made it clear that they have no interest in revealing the theme for this season until it airs. Therefore, this seems to exist mostly for the purpose of throwing you off the scent of whatever it could be.
- Allowing the promo department to have a little bit of fun – Given the desire to keep the theme a secret, obviously FX is just letting people run wild with ideas. The funny thing here is that we wouldn’t be shocked if one of these promos not useful for this season ends up becoming a component in a season coming up down the road.
Personally, we’ve made it clear that we would like to see “American Horror Story” do something as an homage to one of the campy monster movies of old, mostly because there are very few entertainment products who have gotten that tone right as of late. (Take, for example, the recent attempt to revive “Godzilla.”) If not this show, maybe give it to “Scream Queens” at some point down the road. It’s certainly campy enough in its own right.
