‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: Is a Tommy Merlyn return possible?
Just how much could Flashpoint over on “The Flash” alter or inform the remainder of the DC Universe on The CW? It’s a very good question, given that you want to do the entire shared universe justice. Yet, at the same time, it’s also dangerous to make watching one show fully dependent on seeing what is happening elsewhere.
Given that the “Arrow“-verse is surely going to be impacted in some way by what happens with Barry Allen over on the other series, there is an interesting question floating around there right now: Is it possible Tommy Merlyn could return? We wonder if something is altered through this that brings this character back, given that viewers do love him and that there still seems to be a great rapport between Colin Donnell and the remainder of the cast even after years away. Donnell has been known to even show up at a convention here or there.
In speaking per TVLine, the actor would neither confirm or deny that it is something that could happen:
“I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to about the possibility and how it could possibly happen … It’s not out of the realm of possibility.”
One of the real problems we foresee with this story is a matter of logistics. After all, you do have to remember here that Donnell is a regular over on “Chicago Med,” and as a result of that, there is really only going to be so much time that he has in order to do and tackle other things. Still, we’re holding out hope that we can at least see Tommy again in some form over the course of the series’ run.
