‘Elementary’ season 5 spoilers: Further scoop on premiere episode
With the fifth season of “Elementary” coming to CBS on Sunday, October 2 (thanks to the move to Sunday nights, it’s a little bit earlier than usual), there are a few interesting things that you can expect to see. There will be a tricky case for one, but also the emergence of a notable actor who will make his presence felt in an interesting way.
We’re speaking here of course of “True Blood” alum Nelsan Ellis, whose casting was first reported earlier this summer. You won’t have to wait to meet him. His character is Shinwell Johnson, a man who first appeared back in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story “The Illustrious Client” back in 1924. He has a history with Joan Watson, as she helped to save his life back when she was a surgeon.
As for how he factors into things, he is going to be somehow involved in the investigation surrounding a serial bomber, someone who was quiet for several years before suddenly becoming active once more. Clearly, this is going to be a dangerous, volatile case, and it could put the lives of many people in jeopardy.
In the end, the majority of our excitement for this premiere still comes out of seeing Ellis, given that this is someone we really enjoy as a performer and should bring a very interesting new dimension to the show. Hopefully, he’ll be sticking around for some time to come.
