‘Castle’ alum Nathan Fillion lands first post-show role on ‘Modern Family’ season 8
Nathan Fillion did not stay out of work for a long following the cancellation of “Castle.” Not only that, but he is even staying over on ABC.
While at the TCA Summer Press Tour earlier Thursday, “Modern Family” executive producer Steve Levitan confirmed that you will be getting to see the actor on the upcoming eighth season of the comedy, where he will be playing the role of a weatherman that has some sort of interaction with the Dunphy family. It’s not entirely clear how long he will be a part of the show, but this should mark a fairly nice return for him to a genre he has not done on network TV in quite some time.
Do we think that Nathan could be a major star of another TV show in the future? Absolutely, but much of that could entirely depend on just how much he wants to do that, given that we’re sure he does not have a shortage of cash after eight seasons on a procedural show. He has some flexibility now to take on a wide array of different things that he may want to do.
This news comes following ABC head Channing Dungey earlier today making it clear that the network had never guaranteed Fillion or anyone else a season 9 of “Castle.” Instead, the studio locked in the cast members that they needed to in order for the show to potentially happen, but in time the network went in a very different direction and opted to move on.
