‘Power’ season 3, episode 1 preview: What to expect from ‘Call Me James’

If you’re ready to dive into the world of “Power,” rest assured that the waiting is almost over! Tonight’s season premiere will be here in a matter of hours, but before we arrive there, why not detail some of what could be coming?

“Call Me James” is the title of the premiere, and here’s the TV Guide synopsis to kick things off:

“Season 3 begins with Ghost out of the drug game, and Angela having to decide between love and honor. Also, Tasha is reeling from Shawn’s death, and Tommy feels compelled to make some adventurous moves.”

In talking about Ghost’s arc for a minute here, the title is a clear reference to at least his effort to abandon that name once and for all. He knows the score, and what him having the persona will do to those he cares about. Now that we’ve said that, will he really stay away? There are reasons for him to remain, whether they be selfish or for the purpose of trying to save others. It’s hard to imagine “Power” being “Power” without Ghost being mixed up in something … and with that name attached.

As for Angela, we imagine that the choice she’s facing is the same one that she always is. Even if she does realize that Ghost isn’t good for her future, is she really going to be able to avoid him?

Finally, Tommy is potentially set for his biggest season to date given the threat from Lobos hanging over his head versus the inherent loyalty he feels towards his family-of-sorts with Ghost and Tasha. Season 3 coming in will be all about choices, and we imagine the aftermath of them will follow soon after.
