‘Criminal Minds’ season 12: Should Paget Brewster return as Emily Prentiss?

Could we be getting more Prentiss on “Criminal Minds” season 12? We know that this is something that many fans would like to see, and we’re waiting personally to find out if it could be coming up.

At the moment, all we can say is that Paget Brewster is being extremely coy on the possibility. One such example of it is a Twitter response in which she seems to be dancing around the topic after a fan talks about both wanting to see her on season 12 to go along with Chris Meloni back on “Law & Order: SVU.”

We do think that particularly in the early going this coming season, it’d be a real treat to see Paget back as Prentiss. After all, remember that this is a show still in transition somewhat given that Shemar Moore’s exit is still fresh in mind, Adam Rodriguez has just signed on to be a new regular, and we’re still not sure what the status of Aisha Tyler is (we know we’d love to see her back for more). We know that there will always be a touch of familiarity in some of the cases the BAU covers in terms of structure, so why not keep it that way when it comes to the cast?

What’s interesting about season 12 is that familiarity may be a theme after the events of “The Storm,” where many formerly-captured criminals managed to escape from prison across the country. For at least the start of the season, we imagine that the story will be about rectifying this problem.
