First look at new ‘Australian Survivor’ revival (video)
It’s been a long time since Australia has had their own version of “Survivor.” More than a decade ago, the format was first tested, and a few years later, the country did something that has not even happened here in America: A celebrity version. Neither version lasted long.
Luckily, the show is now back with a new season that will, per network Ten, be coming out later this year. There are a couple of things that are somewhat crazy about this version from the start.
1. This will last for a whopping 55 days! The longest “Survivor” season in the US has ironically been “Survivor: The Australian Outback,” which lasted for 42.
2. There will be 24 castaways across three tribes taking place on the show, which is also more than any US season of the show. Then again, with that many days you probably do need more people.
Jonathan LaPaglia is serving as the show’s host, and while there has not been any official word as of yet when it comes to episode count, we know that there have been some Australian reality shows that have really milked it for all they can. (There were so many episodes of “The Mole Australia” this past season that even we struggled to keep up — and we say that as one of the biggest fans of the show out there.)
The extended trailer for the show below doesn’t give away much, other than that Australia still really loves Destiny’s Child and that there are contestants from all walks of life, from an investigator to a teacher and longtime fan of the franchise.
We’ll be covering the show more extensively when it gets closer to coming out. Stay tuned, and head over here to get some other TV news on all we cover, sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Ten.)
