‘The Fosters’ season 4 premiere will feature message following Orlando attack
More so than almost any other show on TV, “The Fosters” tackles issues that are extremely relevant to youth today. These include discussions of identity, sexuality, and also politics on at least a local level. In the case of the season 4 premiere airing on Monday night, gun violence in particular will be an important target as Nick, recent love interest to Mariana, will bring a gun to school after seeing her with Matt.
What unfolds after this will be a key component in the hour, and in turn, could end up being one of the most harrowing experiences that we see some of these characters go through. With all of this being said, there is also a cognizance on the part of Freeform as a network about the timing of this episode. This is airing just over a week after the largest mass shooting in United States history at Pulse nightclub, one that had in particular many LGBTQ victims. (This is a show that explores many themes related to the community.)
According to TV Guide, the episode is going to begin on Monday with a message from Sherri Saum and Cierra Ramirez, where they express their own condolences to those who are suffering in the Orlando area. This is an important cognizance to have from the network point of view, especially since there are some who could find a storyline regarding any sort of shooting in this present situation to be somewhat uncomfortable just based off of circumstance.
Stay tuned, as we will have some more news on “The Fosters” as we get closer to the premiere.
