‘Game of Thrones’ season 6, episode 9: Iwan Rheon hypes up epic Jon Snow, Ramsay Bolton battle

Game of Thrones

There are many reasons to be excited for Sunday night’s new “Game of Thrones” episode, beginning with it being stuffed full of violence and ending with the notion that this is Jon Snow finally squaring off against Ramsay Bolton. In one way, you cannot really consider this the battle of the ages when you are looking at two people who don’t even really know each other; yet, at the same time they both have so much to fight for, and they also have a shared background that makes them incredibly unique.

In explaining this further in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Iwan Rheon, who plays this character fantastically despite him being such a despicable person, had the following to say:

“Anyone who has asked me, ‘Who would you like Ramsay to meet?’ My answer has always been, ‘Jon Snow.’ He’s the antithesis of Ramsay. They’re almost a yin and a yang. They both come from such a similar place yet they’re so different. And even though they’re enemies, they’ve both risen so far as bastards, which is almost incomprehensible, and now they’re both here facing each other. They couldn’t be any more different, yet more similar.”

Do we think both will emerge that battle this weekend alive? It’s hard to imagine that they would, given that this is not the sort of battle where the leaders always tend to survive. In particular, we don’t see Jon Snow ever putting himself in a position where he would flee, meaning for him it is win or die trying. Maybe you can argue that it is a little bit different with Ramsay.
