‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: Meet Derek Zaba

Apparently, “Arrow” is going to just keep adding to its cast for the upcoming fifth season. We knew already that the show was bringing on both a new District Attorney and also a new vigilante, and we also now may have another interesting name to discuss.

According to a report from TVLine, the CW series is in the process of casting Derek Zaba, a man described as having “fierce intelligence” to go along with a good sense of humor; however, he’s also someone with darkness within him to a certain degree. He is a man of faith (he is of Jewish descent), but will he apply those practices at all times? That’s what we are waiting to figure out.

With this description, this is someone who could ultimately either be a hero or a villain, and that is something that is rather interesting about some of the casting notices that have been put out there so far — they could really apply to heroes or villains, and we could see the scales tilting ultimately in either direction depending on what producers want at any given point. This marks some further evidence potentially that we are seeing regarding the show become more grounded once more after spending a great deal of time in the past being rather immersed in the world of powers or characters with an unusually long life. It’ll be nice to see the show shake things up and give us someone who is powerful, but for entirely different reasons. It remains to be seen if Zaba is such a person.
