‘Girl Meets World’ season 3 spoilers: August Maturo’s brother to play younger Auggie

For at least one upcoming season 3 episode of “Girl Meets World,” the Disney Channel is keeping this a family affair in an entirely new way.

Over time, we have seen both some younger and older versions of characters such as Riley and Maya on the show; now, we’re getting to see a young Auggie, and per TVLine he will be played by August Maturo’s younger brother Ocean Maturo.  There isn’t really a whole lot to be said about why in the world we are seeing a younger version of Auggie, but our assumption here mostly is that there is something specific either in Riley, Cory, or Topanga’s life that really requires this. Otherwise, it feels like an awful lot of work to cast a younger version of the character … even if producers didn’t have to look very far.

You can expect to see Ocean at some point later in the season; “Girl Meets World” is a significant way ahead in production of where the show is now in terms of new episodes; we’re getting the third episode of the season entitled “Girl Meets Jaxica” tonight, and we anticipate many more new installments coming over the course of the summer leading into the fall. High school is the primary theme, but we also have the Maya – Lucas – Riley relationship to unravel.

So far this season, one of the biggest storylines for August Maturo’s Auggie has been trying to find a way to be there for Ava after her father walked out on her and her mother, a situation that Maya herself can relate to.
