Ratings: ‘The Good Wife’ series finale rises; ‘Elementary’ finale down; ‘Madam Secretary’ up
For the last episode of “The Good Wife,” clearly some DVR viewers decided to check the show out live for one last time.
The Julianna Margulies series ended up drawing a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a fairly impressive number at least for this show. It ties the best rating since the season premiere, and with almost 10.5 million viewers, it is the first episode since January 2015 to cross the 10 million threshold. We’d call this a win, and we also enjoyed the finale, unlike many people online.

The good news – There weren’t exactly many increases elsewhere, but “Once Upon a Time” also scored a 1.2 for an episode featuring the goodbye to a beloved character in Robin Hood; meanwhile, the season 2 finale of “Madam Secretary” ended up matching its previous 1.0 rating.
The bad news – Given that we’re near the end of the season, we expected “Quantico” to fare better than a 0.9. While we’ve enjoyed some of the past few weeks, we cannot shy away from the notion that this may behind only “Supergirl” as the most disappointing show commercially. It’s coming back and so should “Supergirl,” but we feel like ratings expectations for both shows were higher given their promotional campaigns.
“The Last Man on Earth” (0.9) also fell, and the season finale of “Elementary” even in spite of the lead-in still fell to a 0.7. It must be syndication, since we don’t really have any other idea why CBS renewed the show, even if we do like it.
