‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5, episode 21 preview: What ‘Last Rites’ could mean for Jennifer Morrison, cast
We’re starting to get near the end of “Once Upon a Time” season 5, but we’re not going to say that the picture is entirely clean just yet. There are three episodes left including the two-hour finale that is coming on ABC later this month; for the time being, we’re putting our focus on next week’s “Last Rites.”
Just the title alone certainly has an air of death about it, given that this typically implies something that is done right before the Grim Reaper pays a visit. Given that we’re already in the realm of the dead this season, it is pretty darn hard to figure out precisely what this could mean. Could we lose someone before the end of this season? It is certainly possible. This is the time when shows to tend to make some of their biggest moves.
Based on the promo below, one of these big moves could be killing off a major character. We’re still not sure if Hook is truly gone from the show, and someone else could be joining him. There are ultimately quite a few people we’re worried about right now, whether it be Rumple (who always gets himself in trouble) to Snow to Robin, who has been relatively quiet in the second half of this season. We really hope that nobody else is deprived of a happy ending, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens here.

Okay. Bear with me. That funeral? It may not be for a dead person.
Here’s my theory. Belle’s whole rationale for going under the sleeping
curse was that her father would be there to kiss her awake. Well… what
if something fatal happens to Mo French? No, he’s by no means the
“Heart of Storybrooke,” but BELLE could be. Rumple’s already tried True
Love’s Kiss and failed. So, with no apparent means of breaking the
curse… well, it won’t be the first time a sleeping heroine gets sealed
in a coffin and mourned. My money is on Mo French dying and it being
Belle’s funeral.

This was my thought also. She is a very important part of Storybrooke indeed. She has or finds all the answers. I was thinking either something happens to her fathere or Rumple cannot release her from the box. She is after all having the baby so she may want to be off for a while. One might wonder why Emma did not stay in the Underworld with Hook in order to help the ones down there. There was no reason for her to go back to Storybrook with the others. Regina, David and snow could have taken care of that situation. I am most certain that it’s Hooks funeral though.

I think it’s Hook’s funeral. They never had his, but we all know he will be back. He is in a clip on the Fanale., and the show would not make it at this point without him. It will be one of Robin, Snow or Henry. My guess is Robin, but who knows, these damn writers are sadist. They love to torture us.

I tried looking for the season finale clip with Hook in it. Could you direct me to a link? This whole death fiasco is just really annoying. I’d like some new interesting characters and no damn deaths please! What was the whole point of the underworld if Hook was just left there anyways?

Tori I just found it by accident searching everywhere. Just type in Once Upon a Time final finale Hook and Emma. I have found it numerous places in the last couple of days. Look under Arabella Once Upon a Time season 5 finale.
I feel exactly the same way. I wish they would leave Hook and Emma alone and let them get back to the house in Storybrooke and start making a life together. I liked it better when they were having their adventures together. That was so much more fun. This is all so depressing. As for Colin leaving the show, it will not happen. You can rest assure. I have read too many articles that confirm that. Also, they would not cut the scenes between them so short if he were leaving for good they would have worked up to it. Colin did an Instagram on Ireland Netflix talking about how much he enjoys being Captain Hook and about the finale. I think if he were leaving the show he would not be promoting it so.

I really like your hope that he’ll stay! I mean I guess that’s what the show’s really about, right? — hope? I totally agree with you that that departure was so sudden and short. I mean, come on! Give Emma something good –well, she has parents and kid and such –but her that was her true love dammit. I don’t have pinterest and im assuming your arabella link is directed towards that so i still can’t find it. Anywhoo, for the time being I’ll take your word that he’ll come back, but for now –I’m just plain angry at the direction the show is taking.

I just got a Tweet back from the Colin O’Donoghue fansite. He has lots of tweets on there asking for donations for different charities. I asked the question if it were true that he was filming in Hollywood, and if so, did that mean he would leave Once? I got a reply saying that he loved ones and playing Captain Hook too much to leave, and to remember that they are not filming at the moment. So apparently he has the time to film in Hollywood while they’re on break from Once, and in every interview he speaks of how much he loves playing Captain Hook. So I didn’t expect him to leave. I am sure after he’s brought so much to the show, his salary has increased significantly. So maybe that will keep him motivated also to hang around for a while. I hope they do not cancel the show after the six season, but most night time TV shows do not last much longer than 100 episodes. Won’t that be a bummer.

Oh god did you see last night’s episode? Probably the most depressing episode –what am I saying? It IS the most depressing episode in all of the saga. So much for “hope.” And you’re right! Hook did come back –but it was a bit anticlimactic for me given the circumstances. And Zeus?? Where did they get that random kid from? Probably the most unfulfilling character in OUAT. Also, I would have like to see Hades’ conflict with Zeus (not this baby Zeus), but then gain I was getting tired with Hades.

Think about this — there were only two faces that we saw close-up. Who do we know the both of them care for in the way only a MOTHER could…?

But don’t you think if it were Henry Regina would be devastated, she didn’t look it at all so that makes me think maybe it isn’t him

True, but also remember what the voice-over said – “breaking the very heart of storybrooke.”
My initial thought was Snow, until a friend of mine suggested Henry. The more I watched it the more I thought about it. Henry believed in everything, even before everybody knew he had anything to believe in. Henry put the pieces together preluding season 1.
If storybrooke had a living beating heart, I’d say Henry was the best candidate for it
