‘Criminal Minds’ season 11 finale video: What’s happening to Hotch?
With the season 11 finale of “Criminal Minds” right around the corner, there are many reasons to be nervous. Specifically, we don’t know what is going on with our leading man in Hotch and since he hasn’t really had any big story arcs this season (outside of watching him eat an omelet that Garcia made him on a hotplate), we know that they are probably saving the best for last.
As you can see in the newly-released promo below for “The Storm,” the character (played by Thomas Gibson) finds himself in a particularly bizarre situation of being apprehended by a SWAT team. Has he done something to deserve it, or was he drugged into doing something against his will? Both are interesting questions, and are each suggested in the preview along with the unleashing of many monsters that could put Dr. Tara Lewis’ life in danger.
Let’s just throw this out here: Please, don’t kill off Tara. We don’t know what Aisha Tyler’s schedule is going to be like for the next year or so, but we would be rather happy if she ended up becoming a series regular for this show moving forward. We don’t want to lose her and Shemar Moore in the same season.
It’s not even altogether clear in watching this preview if we’re going to get a resolution to this particular story on the finale; given that this show has an affinity for leaving you hanging between seasons, you do have to consider the possibility that there is some sort of enormous cliffhanger coming, and you’re stuck waiting until potentially the fall to see what happens next. (We’re at least assuming that the show comes back, which it really should given its recent ratings.)

I really wanted to like this series, but there’s something so off-putting about their absurd overuse of the word “unsub” that I can’t concentrate on the rest of the plot. Even the new spinoff with Gary Sinese, who is one of my favorite actors, can’t stop saying “unsub,” which ruined that show for me, too. Dumb! Just dumb!
