‘The Good Wife’ season 7, episode 20 review: Alicia’s ‘Party’ leads to Jason, Peter revelations
On Sunday night’s new episode of “The Good Wife,” Alicia Florrick has herself a party. Who would have imagined going into this episode that this would make for a wonderful way to structure an episode? This party turned out to be one of the busiest and most-stressful times in the character’s life.
Personally, the trouble began for Alicia when she tried to convince Zach that getting married and heading over to France was a bad move, even if this was precisely what he wanted. After meeting the bride-to-be, though, we think that she may have changed her mind somewhat. She was a calming influence, and made it clear to Alicia that her philosophy on marriage was such that she did not really have to worry about Zach feeling miserable in the future.
Also, she had her relationship with Jason Crouse to figure out, which was rather difficult mostly because of the way he seems noncommittal about staying in a single place. We know that he cares about her, but he’s a guy who guys anxious if he stays somewhere for too long.
As the party ended (and we continued to see that weird show that Alicia had on TV), she started to realize more and more what sort of trouble Peter was going to be in as we’re nearing the start of his trial. despite whatever evidence Eli and/or Jason tried to build to ensure that he could be in the clear, he didn’t really make a whole lot of progress. Instead, he and Alicia took a moment, paused, looked at their wreckage, and toasted their divorce. This episode tied up nothing, and yet made us feel everything … including a note at the end suggesting that Alicia could even miss a part of Peter and viceversa. Episode Grade: A-.
