‘Quantico’s’ Priyanka Chopra, ‘Master of None’s’ Aziz Ansari among Time 100 honorees
Every year, Time Magazine announces their prestigious list of the 100 Most Influential People, and there is always a rather healthy mix of people who are familiar to us as TV fans. Of course, there are also scientists, political figures, and so many other notable names who make it onto this list, but we’re a television site; of course, those are the people we are going to focus on.
With that, here’s a list of some of the notable TV names who made it on board this year, and we’re sorting them using the same words that the magazine did.
Pioneers – Aziz Ansari (“Master of None”), Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”), Caitlyn Jenner (“I Am Cait”).
Titans – Taraji P. Henson (“Empire”), Melissa McCarthy (“Mike & Molly), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”), Priyanka Chopra (“Quantico”), and Dwayne Johnson (“Ballers”).
Leaders – Lester Holt (“NBC Nightly News”).
There were some other people mentioned on the list who are tangentially tied to television in some way. For example, Nicki Minaj was once a judge on “American Idol,” Ariana Grande and Ronda Rousey were each hosts on “Saturday Night Live” this season, and everyone from Hillary Clinton to Ted Cruz to Donald Trump to Bernie Sanders has been on every talk show known to mankind over the past two months as they continue their respective campaigns to become President.
Obviously, it’s a huge honor to be included on the list, given that it shows that you have not only achieved great things, but you are at the height of cultural zeitgeist. Mass congrats to the winners!
