‘Ink Master’ season 7, episode 7 video: A lettering-based Flash Challenge

Ink MasterThe theme for Tuesday night’s new episode of “Ink Master” is precision, which we like to translate to mean “just don’t make any big mistakes.” For the Flash Challenge below, it also means having to do something incredibly difficult: Deliver accurate lettering on a very small amount of space: The knuckles.

Oh, and there’s something else we didn’t mention yet: This lettering has to be the artist’s own created font, and they cannot use any resource in order to make it work. Megan Jean Morris won the last challenge, and she’ll be responsible for picking skulls and if she watched Matti Hixon’s season, then she knows that he’s a good contestant to target since he’s admitted in the past that he can’t really do lettering that well.

When you look further at some of these canvases, it is pretty clear for the most part that some of them are better than others. Specifically, you have someone who doesn’t want any outline on her letters (crazy), someone with a very dark complexion (harder to be creative, per Anthony), and someone who wants “negative-space lettering.” (What?)

Of course, this sneak peek also gives us a chance to see (yet again) more carrying on from Christian on the subject of the “alliance” that he has with Megan Jean and Anthony. Why is he so worried about this? Of course she’s going to give them good skulls! It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever to turn on the two of them, since the clear targets at the moment have to be people like Sausage, Jime, or Sarah. Matti Hixson is working somewhat in collaboration with the newbies at this point, and Megan will probably give something good to Cleen Rock One to make him happy for now.
