Ratings: ‘Quantico’ steady; ‘The Family,’ ‘Last Man on Earth,’ ‘Little Big Shots’ rise
Sunday was a little bit of a weird night when it comes to primetime network ratings, and there is a pretty good reason why we are not including anything in here for CBS: The Masters. The golfing event running late has caused us to disregard most of their numbers, since they are privy to larger fluctuations than we are likely to see almost anywhere else on the schedule.
For those who still want to know, the preliminary numbers are a 1.1 in the 18-49 demographic for “Madam Secretary,” and a 0.9 / 0.8 for the two hours of “Elementary.” We just don’t want to waste a lot of time on numbers that could end up changing later.
The winners – It was a rather nice night for Fox, given that “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “The Last Man on Earth” all rose to a 1.1. While this isn’t a number worth celebrating on some sort of grand scale, it is rather interesting to see all three shows generate the same viewer interest. That’s a pretty good sign that none of them are that dependent on the other. (We’re going to go ahead and ignore “Bordertown” and “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life,” which are both likely going to be canceled.)
Over on ABC, “Once Upon a Time” (1.1) and “Quantico” (1.0) were both steady, which is rather nice to see this time of year. Meanwhile, “The Family” (0.8) improved its standing; while we’re not confident it’ll get renewed, it’s nice to see that this show is not sinking into oblivion at this point.
Also, “Little Big Shots” improved to a 2.0, which of course was enough to win the night.
The bad news – There really wasn’t much last night! You could argue that “Elementary’s” preliminary numbers are a little meh, but they’re not far from the series average.
