‘Call the Midwife’ season 6 Christmas special filming in South Africa; Helen George, cast already filming
Through its first five seasons on the air, we cannot say that “Call the Midwife” has much of a sterling reputation when it comes to shaking things up and making big moves. It is an extremely conservative show for the most part, and that’s why many of the stories do have a tendency to blend together.
However, this may be changing somewhat for the upcoming season 6 Christmas Special! According to the Express, much of the main cast (Jenny Agutter, Linda Bassett, Victoria Yeates, Laura Main, Stephen McGann, Jack Ashton, Helen George, Charlotte Ritchie and Cliff Parisi) is already in South Africa working on a special that will feature them lending their skills to people who need their help overseas. It’s a very different sort of feel than we’ve seen from typical episodes, and in turn it is fair to say we’re expecting the show to take advantage of this in ways that we have not seen before.
While we hesitate to say that “Call the Midwife” is at its core a series about a message (it is actually about far more than that), we do think that this special more so than any other episode is going to be a way to tell a tale about what it truly means to give back, and think of others before yourself. Given that this is airing at the most wonderful time of the year, we hope that it may cause some viewers to consider helping others themselves more so than just caring about their own self-interests.
Given that there is still some time to go until this episode airs, we will have other updates coming up. Stay tuned!
