‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Gwen Stefani performs ‘Make Me Like You,’ ‘Misery’
This has been a pretty eventful year for Gwen Stefani. First, she was a judge on the most-recent season of “The Voice,” and she followed that up with all of the rumors regarding her relationship with Blake Shelton.
Tonight, she hit up the stage of “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in years. She made a cameo in one of the sketches, and she also performed one of her latest singles in “Make Me Like You.” We should say here first and foremost that this performance probably isn’t going to do anything to change that. She’s one of those artists who can be extremely polarizing, but we have to say that this is one of the better songs we’ve heard from her in a while. It’s got a lot of energy, it’s upbeat, and the chorus is extremely catchy. Admittedly we’ve never been the biggest Stefani fan, but this did pull is in more than some of her other solo material has.
For those who don’t remember this song, it is for the most part famous thanks to the music video that she made right in the middle of a commercial break at the Grammys. We’ll be back soon with more on her second performance.
Second Song: This was “Misery,” and it definitely had a different feel to it than the first song. We’re always going to prefer upbeat Gwen just from the standpoint that she brings something very unique to the show when it comes to energy and personality; however, there was a certain poignancy to some of these lyrics that we think so people out there will like.
