‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 finale: Playing the odds on possible Negan kills

twdThere’s been so much conversation about the arrival of Negan onto “The Walking Dead” season 6 finale Sunday night, we’re almost surprised at the moment that the internet has not found itself with a collective state of laryngitis just yet.

There are several articles out there regarding just who Negan could kill, and there’s a pretty lengthy list of possibilities. With that, we figure that we’re going to go about this in a very different way; instead of talking just about characters, let’s look at this in terms of predictability and odds.

Most predictable kill – Morgan. We want to believe that he’ll have a big role next season, but who knows with this show? The reality is that he has a certain viewpoint that the show likes to claim is wrong; as a matter of fact, we almost think his death is so predictable by the show’s M.O. that they’d be stupid to have it actually happen. That’s why we’re holding out for more Morgan.

Most semi-predictable kill – Rosita. She’s already in some danger, and as much as we like Christian Serratos’ performance in the part, this is the sort of “shock” killing that the show could make without taking out someone who has been around since the the first or second season. Also, it wouldn’t be the obvious-facepalm kill that Morgan would be.

Most infuriating kill – Glenn. Can you imagine what would happen if the show made all that fuss about not killing Glenn earlier this season, only to do so now?

Most ballsy kill – Daryl. Obviously, we don’t want to see it happen, but there’s been such a media fuss about the show’s so-called “no one is safe” mantra that this could be producers’ way of striking back at that. This is also probably the kill that people are the most worried about right now.

Most show-altering kill – Rick. If you get rid of Rick, almost the entire focus and foundation of “The Walking Dead” changes. We do think there are ways for it to function without him, but at the same time we’d be beyond shocked if Andrew Lincoln was removed from the cast.

“Never gonna happen” kill – Carol. Maybe we’re crazy for thinking this way, but we’d almost see Daryl or Rick going out at this point before a woman we’d say is probably the show’s strongest, most-complex personality. Without Melissa McBride in the cast, the series would be missing something tremendous.
