‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Versus Zoom’ and the Hunter Zolomon story

Zoom -Who is Hunter Zolomon really? Other than the alter ego of Zoom, there is so much more to learn about the ruthless alter ego at the center of “The Flash” season 2. This is a man with his own history, and there may be reasons why he ended up becoming the power-hungry speed demon who has terrorized all of Earth-2, and in turn wants to also destroy Barry in Earth-1.

“Versus Zoom” is rather fittingly the title of the show’s return to The CW on Tuesday, April 19, and the synopsis below offers us a few details in regards to how Barry could eventually make his way back to Earth-2 in order to battle Zoom once more:

“Equipped with the tachyon device, Barry (Grant Gustin) believes he is fast enough to stop Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) and wants to open the breaches to catch him. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) strongly advises against that plan but after Barry convinces him, Harry reveals that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has the power to re-open the breach. Meanwhile, Hunter Zoloman’s (Teddy Sears) painful story on Earth-2 is revealed.”

Eventually, we do still wonder if this journey is going to take us down the road of discovering the identity of the Man in the Iron Mask, the mystery figure whose identity is to us one of the major sticking points remaining on the show. Uncovering his identity could be crucial when it comes to determining where the story is ultimately going to head the rest of season 2; there are still a handful of episodes to go beyond this one, and they will set up the battle for all ages which could in determine the story for season 3. (Yes, we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but we know that there is another season coming and therefore, there is much more story to explore.)
