‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 17 will set up ‘Supergirl’ crossover

FlashThe Flash” is a show that does by and large consider time travel to be a central component of what it does, and it is with that in mind that it only seems appropriate that time travel be necessary in order to truly see the story of this show and the upcoming “Supergirl” crossover in a linear fashion.

If you look back at the end of this past episode of the CW show, there was no real cliffhanger that was built in to get Barry Allen all the way to National City. Instead, he was more screaming out of rage over the fact that Jay Garrick, someone who was allowed into STAR Labs even after everything with Harrison Wells, was actually Zoom.

As it turns out, “The Flash” will be setting up the “Supergirl” event on their upcoming episode “Flash Back,” with the irony here being that this episode actually airs after the “Supergirl” one does. In explaining this dynamic further to TVLine, executive producer for both shows Greg Berlanti explains that this is mostly a network issue that caused for things to air out of order:

“We’re much better at coordinating the viewing patterns when we’re crossing over on the same network … But when [it’s folded into The Flash], people will get it.”

In the end, the important thing here is still that there’s a whole lot to like about this upcoming event, and also everything that is left on “The Flash” this season … which is a lot. There are still seven episodes presumably left to air, and that should give you a lot of opportunities for this story to twist and turn more than ever.
