‘The Voice UK’ coach Boy George slams ‘The X Factor’ over judges’ commitment to acts
The live rounds of “The Voice UK” are going to be beginning starting on Saturday, but before we get around to that, how about a little shade towards “The X Factor” from one of the show’s most-prominent coaches?
Speaking in a new interview on “Alan Carr: Chatty Man,” Boy George made it clear that the coaches on his show are much more invested in the process and the singers than they are over on the ITV rival. The conversation started when Carr referenced “X Factor” judges looking at a sheet of paper to remember a contestant’s name, and the George went further in bringing up a particular contestant from this past season:
“It’s funny because I was having a coffee with Monica Michael the other day and she kept saying that Rita kept forgetting her name, so yeah you are right.”
If this is true, then it is even more awkward given that Michael had a previous season’s worth of experience on “The X Factor,” so she had to be at least a little more familiar to the crew. (Rita was a judge on the show for the first time last season, so she probably was not as familiar with Monica as others.)
Of course, the primary source of irony that comes out of all of this for us is that Rita used to be a coach on “The Voice,” and there have long been rumors about a potential bidding war in order to determine what show she will be going to moving into later this year / early 2017.
