NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Joe Maye gets to duet with Christina Aguilera
There’s another new episode of “The Voice” coming our way on Tuesday night, and based on the latest “leaked audition” below (which really isn’t leaked at all), there is a lot to like from the latest singer trying to prove himself in Joe Maye. He’s coming back after failing to get a chair to turn in season 9, and there is ultimately quite a bit to like about what he brings to the table here.
First and foremost, let’s talk confidence. Joe has that for days! We love the tone of his voice during “I Put a Spell on You,” and we also love how he celebrates getting both Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton to turn around for him. It really doesn’t happen to often that someone shows this sort of enthusiasm and isn’t just sheepish in front of the judges.
As for who is the right coach for Joe, this is an interesting question. While Joe gets the chance to duet with Christina after his performance (which he’ll remember for a long time), there aren’t many people on Blake Shelton’s team with a similar skill set. The advantage of jumping over there is that there may be more of an opportunity to shine, while at the same time there’s an inherent disadvantage there in that Blake may just opt for a team stuffed full of country singers with no real room for anyone else.
Ultimately, though, he’s gotta pick Christina. We don’t know how you can go through this and pick anyone else.
