Ratings: ‘Gotham’ season 2 steady; ‘Supergirl’ hits low; ‘Blindspot’ down
The ratings are officially in for one of the most competitive Monday nights in quite some time, and the results are simple: It’s hard to be a hero when there are so many titans on the air.
The good news – Sometimes you take good news just when a show stays steady in the 18-49 demographic. This is what happened to “Gotham,” which returned with a 1.5 rating. Meanwhile, “The Bachelor” also stayed steady with a 2.5, and “Castle” kept the entirety of its 1.1 rating from the week before. Of these shows, “Castle” is really the only one in any danger of being canceled at the end of the season.
The bad news – This is a little more widespread, and we have to start with “Supergirl” falling to a 1.4 despite having an episode featuring former Supergirl Laura Vandervoort in an exciting new role as Indigo. There have officially been several episodes of “The Flash” on The CW that have generated better numbers, which continues to make us wonder if this show could also end up on that network eventually.
Meanwhile, “The Voice” won the night with a 3.4 rating, which is a significant decline from its previous spring season. The show’s return also hurt “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” (0.3), “Jane the Virgin” (0.3), and “Scorpion” (1.5) in a pretty big way. “Lucifer” (1.3) hit a new low without “The X-Files” as a lead-in, and “Blindspot” (1.8) returned slightly down versus its most recent run of episodes this fall. We’ll have to see where all of this goes.
