‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: Official details on 300th episode ‘Scope’
Milestone episodes are among the hardest episodes of any show to create, since you know that there are elevated expectations thanks to the celebratory nature of it all. Also, you know that you’re not going to get a chance to tell another story like it for quite some time.
Therefore, we know that opinions are going to be all over the place about the upcoming 300th episode of “NCIS” (airing on March 15) entitled “Scope.” Before we present ours, take a look at the attached synopsis:
“The NCIS team re-examines an ambush on a group of Special Ops snipers in Iraq after an American couple is attacked in the same area six months later. When Gibbs discovers he needs the account of the lone survivor, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Aaron Davis (Taye Diggs), he tries to connect with the wounded warrior who is being treated for PTSS at Walter Reed Medical Center, on the 300th episode of NCIS, Tuesday, March 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Laura San Giacomo returns as Grace Confalone. The episode features a special performance by the MusiCorps Band, part of a music rehabilitation program for wounded veterans.”
Admittedly, before reading this we were rather afraid that this episode was going to be very Gibbs-centric (there’s been a lot of that lately), or that it wouldn’t give us any information regarding Michael Weatherly’s impending exit. In theory, you’d think we would be rather upset about this. We’re not. Instead, it feels a little more like Gibbs is being used as a vessel in this episode to really refocus the show on what it’s always been about: Helping people in the military who need it. PTSS (or PTSD, as it is often called) is a serious problem that is still not touched on enough, and we appreciate that the show is taking advantage of this landmark episode to tell a story that is a little more personal.

While it’s timely and relevant to address the very real problem of PTSS or PTSD, this sounds like the usual hero Gibbs fest. Note that we’ll also have Gibbs scenes with his new therapist. This show has become nothing more than a showcase for Mr. Harmon to display his skills no matter how they pretend it’s about something else. How about Tony or Ducky or Abby reaching out to the vet? No way!! The good stuff always has to feature Gibbs. The other three actors are also celebrating their 300th episode and although the current powers at NCIS would have us believe that Gibbs is the only reason anyone tunes into NCIS, the reality is, some fans actually tune in for other characters (blasphemy!!!). Once again, I’m disappointed.
