Ratings: ‘Code Black’ improves season 2 odds; ‘Arrow,’ ‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong,’ ‘American Idol’ increase
The ratings are in for Wednesday night’s primetime lineup, and for the most part, we think that this is a much more important night than it may seem on the surface. One show wanted to end on a high note, while another wanted to set itself up well for a big season finale. There’s a lot of decent news here for the most part, and we’re excited to dive further in to it.
The good news – With a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, “Code Black” improved for its important season 1 finale and has beaten so far this week “The Good Wife,” “Madam Secretary,” and “Limitless.” While a season 2 renewal is not assured, we feel cautiously optimistic that it will happen.
Meanwhile, there was some other good news for CBS as “Survivor” improved to a 2.0, and over on The CW (which it partially owns), “Arrow” rose to a 1.0 for an episode featuring the first live-action appearance from “Vixen.” “Modern Family” won the night with a 2.5, with “American Idol” (2.1) in a firm second place.
The bad news – The news is not as great for another CW show in “Supernatural,” which fell to a 0.7. “Law & Order: SVU” dropped down to a 1.5, and that’s really the only bad news that we’ve got to report at the moment. By and large, we consider that a good day at the office for the majority of the shows that are airing in primetime. Neither show is in any real danger of getting canceled; heck, “SVU” is already renewed. There’s nothing to worry about.
